God Did It!

Forgive me Father, for I have sinned! In my victory over the enemy, I took the credit. I even went so far as to pat myself on the back. Have mercy on me. It was You and You alone who delivered me from the hands of my enemy. It is You, who is my strength, my stronghold in time of distress. I thank and praise You for Your ways are wonderful. You are the rock of my salvation. Forgive me Lord, I am ashamed that I took credit for what You did. Humble me Lord. You and You alone are my Redeemer. Had it not been for your Your goodness, my enemies would have crused me like an ant under the feet of an army of soliders. But YOU saved me. You alone stretched out Your mighty hand and cut my enemies off at the crossroad of doom and despair. You did it! Not me. Let every breath I breath praise You and let me never forget You are God! My God! Amen!

Take a Break!

I don't understand why so many pastors don't take vacations. I think that's insane; not to mention unhealthy. Even God took a break after seven days of creating the world and everything in it. When you consider that one day is like a thousand to the Lord and a thousand like one day, for all we know, God could have taken a whole year for sabbatical! Do yourself, your family, and your congregation a favor... take time off for rest, renewal and re-creation! Everyone will be will glad you did!

Best Friends and Baths

Being a single, female pastor in the itinerate ministry has its unique challenges. I serve in the United Methodist Church and am currently assigned to an area where I do not have family or a network of close friends. I've been thinking a lot about creating caring community and how to do that late in one's life. In the meantime, I'm taking my best friend to the groomers today for a brush and bath! Peace.
